The subscription-based social network OnlyFans, best-known for hosting adult content, has a new sheriff: 36-year-old Amrapali 'Ami' Gan.
When OnlyFans founder and Essex lad Tim Stokely announced his resignation yesterday from the company that netted him £97.3 million, he appointed Gan in his place.
Formerly the head of marketing at OnlyFans, Mumbai-born Gan only joined the company 18 months ago but has been fast tracked to the top.
As she takes over Stokely's media empire and launches her plans to make OnlyFans "the safest social media platform in the world", let's take a look at how Gan made it to where she is today.
Born in Mumbai, India, Amrapali Gan (aka 'AG') is an experienced businesswoman who previously worked for Red Bull, Quest Nutrition, and even Cannabis Cafe, where she did marketing for the "first cannabis restaurant in the USA". (This cafe in West Hollywood, where weed is legal, includes a full menu of edibles, pre-rolled joints, and much more.)
Gan isn't afraid to get stuck in with her customers, even running her own OnlyFans profile, where subscribers get exclusive access to snaps from Gan's exotic holidays abroad and her time spent with rescue dogs.
Elon Musk says he is 'thinking of' quitting SpaceX and Tesla to launch an OnlyFans
Her surprise appointment shocked many within the company, as founder Stokely had not given any previous indication that he was going to quit being in charge of the firm he founded.
However, he shared his excitement at the appointment, saying: "Ami has a deep passion for OnlyFans' business and I'm passing the baton to a friend and colleague who has the vision and drive to help the organisation reach its tremendous potential."
OnlyFans has exploded in popularity since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, with millions of content creators building huge followings and earning a fortune every month. Today, it has 180 million users who subscribe to all sorts of profiles.
