Top US spy chiefs to open up country’s secret UFO files for the first time

The American government is set to open its secret UFO files, with one spymaster saying some of them could point to evidence of "a different form of life."

Details of the secret files are to be released under new rules which say the Senate Intelligence Committee has to reveal threats posed by "unidentified aerial phenomena" and whether they could be attributed to "foreign adversaries"

A former top spy boss has admitted many of the files have never been revealed before.

John Ratcliffe, who served as Director of National Intelligence under former President Donald Trump, told Fox News: "There are a lot more sightings than have been made public.

"Some of those have been declassified.

"And when we talk about sightings, we are talking about objects that have been seen by Navy or Air Force pilots, or have been picked up by satellite imagery, that frankly engage in actions that are difficult to explain.

"These are movements that are hard to replicate and we don’t have the technology for, or travelling at speeds that exceed the sound barrier without a sonic boom."

He added: "When we talk about sightings, the other thing I will tell you is, it's not just a pilot or just a satellite, or some intelligence collection.

"Usually, we have multiple sensors that are picking up these things, and some of these are unexplained phenomenon."

Mr Ratcliffe said US intelligence bosses always tried to find plausible reasons for such UFO sightings, but sometimes there aren't any.

He said: "Weather can cause disturbances, visual disturbances.

"Sometimes we wonder whether or not our adversaries have technologies that are a little bit further down the road than we thought or than we realized, but there are instances where we don’t have good explanations for some of the things that we have seen."

Last year three videos taken by US Navy pilots were released which showed UFOs moving at incredible speeds and doing seemingly impossible aerial manoeuvres.

In two of them, the pilots can be heard expressing disbelief at what they are seeing.

Another spy boss, former CIA Director John Brennan, publicly called the videos "quite eyebrow-raising when you look at them" and added "some of the phenomena we’re going to be seeing continues to be unexplained.

"It might, in fact, be some type of phenomenon that is the result of something that we don’t yet understand and that could involve some type of activity that some might say constitutes a different form of life."

No firm date has been given for the release of the files but it is expected to take place before June 1.
