PS5 goes on sale in ‘historic moment’ as bosses say things will only get better

Playstation bosses have hailed “a historic moment” as their new console goes on sale across Britain and promised the best is yet to come.

They told fans the experience of the console will only improve over the coming months as new games come online after the £450 Playstation 5 machine hits stores to huge fanfare globally.

It boasts lifelike graphics and instant access to blockbuster games like Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War, Spider-Man Miles Morales, Assassin's Creed Valhalla and Watch Dogs Legion thanks to state-of-the-art computing technology.

But that’s just the beginning.

With PS5 chiefs hailing a future line-up of games in the coming months that includes exclusive titles like Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart, Returnal, Destruction AllStars, Horizon Forbidden West, Gran Turismo 7 and a new God of War game.

Jim Ryan, President of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said: “PS5 is a truly next-generation console representing the beginning of a new era for gaming.

“I’m thrilled for the new worlds that players will begin to experience today, and I’m equally excited for the lineup of games still to come for PS5 that will continue to propel the gameplay experience forward.

Sony welcomed today’s arrival of the console, years in the making, by lighting up iconic buildings and popular sites in 25 territories around the world.

They also changed Oxford Street’s tube signs to images of classic PlayStation controller shapes.

PS5 will bring players into game worlds with unprecedented speed, visual fidelity and sensory immersion.

Gamers will enjoy near-instant load times thanks to its ultra-high speed solid state drive, as well as breathtaking 4K graphics and silky-smooth gameplay up to 120 frames per second.

With the enhanced haptic feedback and adaptive triggers of the DualSense wireless controller and the immersive soundscapes made possible by Tempest 3D AudioTech, PS5 heightens players’ senses, making them feel transported into their game world.

You can also connect it up to Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV+, Disney+, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube for all-round entertainment.
