Marvel fans are well aware of Steve Rogers’ superhuman strength and the events that led to the scrawny but brave soldier turning into Captain America.
Rogers, played by Chris Evans, was administered the Super-Soldier Serum in Captain America: The First Avenger and eventually became the superhero we’ve seen in a number of films since then. However, the details, as it pertains to the serum and its process, hadn’t been explained until now.

While Captain America isn’t among the strongest of Marvel’s superheroes, he’s one of the most formidable and the Serum given to him by Dr. Abraham Erskine during Project Rebirth in 1943 managed to keep him alive while he remained frozen for an uncomfortably long time.
The substance has been detailed in a new book called The Wakanda Files: A Technological Exploration of The Avengers and Beyond. The book, written by Troy Benjamin in real-life at the request of Shuri (the sister of the Black Panther who is played by Letitia Wright), is said to “trace the world’s technological achievements from the era of Howard Stark and early Hydra studies to modern discoveries in quantum tunneling and nanotechnology, weaving together the stories, personalities, and technology that are the fabric of the MCU.”
The Wakanda Files, available in paperback for $54 on Amazon, has detailed notes from Project Rebirth, which proved to be a remarkable success. As fans would have seen, Rogers emerged from a radiation chamber taller, quite well-built, and way more confident than he went in after being administered said serum.
The book goes on to describe the effects of the Serum (H/T Screenrant). Due to the changes, Rogers “burns four times faster than the average male of his age and build.” The superhero “burns an average of 7650 calories daily,” according to the files and, that’s when he’s resting.
When it comes to the physicals, “he has the ability to bench-press several tons” and could “comfortably run thirteen miles in thirty minutes.” The Serum also had a profound impact on Rogers’ brain as “his memory is near-photographic” and “his real-time analyzation and strategic planning ability are unmatched.”
Also, “his previously debilitating physical ailments have been alleviated.” The Serum “promoted muscular growth and development…” and “enhanced and strengthened his immune system” while it “promoted change on a cellular level, creating a protective system of regeneration and healing.”
The book claims “the Super-Soldier Serum… could be the cure to a variety of diseases and have untold potential”
Unfortunately, Rogers was the only one who was able to benefit from it as Dr. Erskine’s work was lost when he was killed by Hydra.
